This maternity top is ethically made with high quality very soft African organic cotton. It is designed to really show off your bump and also, to help those less fortunate.

Akua Ba is based on the old african legend of Akua. Akua could not get pregnant. A marabout told her to make a wooden doll that she had to carry on her back and treat as if it where her own child. The villagers made fun of her. But after a while Akua became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful child. Akua-Ba is the child of Akua and means welcome in Ghana.

Each top contains the little wooden doll to wish life and good luck to all pregnant women. For each Akua-Ba maternity top sold a mosquito net is given to a pregnant woman in Burkina Faso to protect her and her child against malaria. This is a top that gives a little back. It makes you look and feel wonderful.
